“I joined in September 2020 as an Assistant Planner and have since been promoted to Planner”
What attracted you to P4 Planning?
“When I joined I was in the initial stage of preparing for my APC submission and I was particularly attracted by the opportunity to work alongside experienced RTPI Assessors. I had previously worked at a national real estate agency and I felt moving to a smaller specialist firm would give me greater exposure to a wider range of planning projects. The flexible working on offer was an additional benefit.”
What’s your experience of working here been like?
“Varied! Although I have been working predominantly from home through the pandemic, I have already gained a diverse range of experience. My work includes research and preparing planning applications across a variety of sectors including residential, commercial and education. I am involved in promoting land through the local plan process and I have gained a broader understanding of the politics and economic considerations when promoting sites through the planning system.”
What have been your highlights – personal and professional?
“In the past year, I passed my APC becoming a chartered town planner and I was promoted which was a big professional highlight for me!”
“Personally, I have found working on the University of Liverpool’s proposed new School of Architecture a real highlight. The scheme will deliver an iconic building on the University’s campus which will be enjoyed for years to come.
How do you see your future?
“P4 has introduced monthly feedback meetings which I have found really helpful to identify what I have been doing well, areas where I can improve, and to keep track of my professional development. I am looking forward to having more opportunities to manage larger projects and to develop my problem solving ability for more technical planning challenges.”
