The Averill Group (TAG) & P4 Planning has secured full planning approval for the transformation of part of the former Halls factory complex in Radcliffe, Bury, into a new residential development of affordable homes.

The decision paves the way for TAG, working in partnership with Jigsaw Housing Group to build 25 new homes, all of which will be offered on an affordable rent basis. Since closing in 2004, the former factory site has already been partly redeveloped for housing and the new development will compliment and support the growing residential community.

Says Luke Averill, Managing Director of TAG: “This is a great result and we are looking forward to making a start on the development and delivering these new homes.  This project will provide quality affordable houses in the town I grew up in, helping with our growth strategy and providing significant investment in the area with 50 jobs expected to be created.”

Says Gillian Worden, Associate at P4 Planning: “We have worked closely with our client and Jigsaw Housing to ensure this scheme will meet an identified and specific need.  They are making a positive move with their plans for the former Halls factory site ensuring what is currently a vacant, unusable site will be transformed into an attractive new residential development, meeting all expectations and ambitions for the area.”

The new development will help contribute to Council’s housing supply, providing 25 new affordable homes in a thriving residential area, one which is close to existing local services and public transport links.  The homes will be provided in a combination of 2 – 3 bedroom, terraced and semi-detached houses.

Material Studio Architects are the architects for the project, with Enzygo providing input on Flood Risk, Ecology and Ground Conditions.  SK Transport advised on highway matters.
