P4 Planning is advising Britannia Group, the owner of the derelict Tatton Arms pub in Northenden, on securing planning permission to redevelop it into new homes.
The dilapidated pub, vacant since 2007, has the potential to become nine apartments while restoring its historic exterior. The proposal also includes building 14 houses on the site around the pub, as well as a riverside café.
A planning application was submitted in September 2016, which received strong support from the local community. However, the application was refused by Manchester City Council on the grounds of harm to the Green Belt and the impact upon the character of the Northenden Conservation Area.
P4 Planning has appealed against the council decision on behalf of Britannia Group. The planning inspectorate will now review the planning application and the council’s decision-making process, before confirming how the appeal will progress.
